Are you ready for the latest Battle of the Bulbs? In the blue corner we have Philips Blue Vision Ultra, and in the orange corner we have OSRAM Cool Blue Intense.
You’ve decided the most important factor when it comes to choosing new headlight bulbs is style. Your ideal headlight bulbs will provide a light that's crisp, clean and white without the slightest hint of yellow. Of course, performance is also important to you and you want your choice of headlights to be safe and road legal. You've done your research and you've got it down to Phillips Blue Vision Ultra and OSRAM Cool Blue Intense but which range is better?
Take a look at this handy table that highlights the differences between each range:

But which bulb is best? Let the battle commence…
Round 1: Style
Both ranges pack a powerful punch in the style stakes. Blue Vision Ultra delivers a colour temperature of 4000K. A clever gradient coating technology helps to produce a crisp beam. Cool Blue Intense fights back with its high luminous flux, which manages to produce a cool 4200K colour temperature.
When it comes to style, there isn't much that sets these two ranges apart. However, with that little bit of an edge in colour temperature, round one is taken by... Cool Blue Intense!
WINNER: OSRAM Cool Blue Intense
Round 3: Reputation
Feedback speaks volumes, as do Auto Express Best Buy Awards, so which styling bulb has made the best impression over the years? Whilst both bulbs have featured in previous Auto Express tests, the Philips Blue Vision Ultra range has made the biggest impression with a couple of awards under its belt.
The product reviews we've received from our brilliant customers all speak very highly of these two ranges. It's a difficult one to call, but due to the added endorsement of Auto Express awards we're going to have to give this round to Philips Blue Vision Ultra.
WINNER: Philips Blue Vision Ultra
The Result
So, all things considered, both ranges have a lot to offer when it comes to style and performance so it's a difficult one to call.
Blue Vision Ultra has the better reputation, and while it may be a little bit pricier, you get matching sidelights too. Cool Blue Intense has a greater colour temperature - in fact, it's the closest road legal colour match to Xenon HID bulbs.
Personally, if I had to choose I would probably opt for Philips, simply because I'm a sucker for product reviews and awards, but for a real bargain you can't beat Cool Blue Intense on price. Why not read more about the Philips X-tremeVision vs. OSRAM Night Breaker Plus.
