What is a headlight?

Headlights are the two big lights that are located at the front of your vehicle. You'll use these for extra visibility, and to be seen by others on the road.

When are headlights used?

Car headlights are used when visibility decreases, for example, when the weather is bad or during night time driving.

Why is it important to replace car headlight bulbs?

It’s illegal to drive without your headlights illuminated when needed, so it’s essential that you replace a bulb as soon as it fails.

It’s also worth looking at upgrading your car headlights. Some of our halogen bulb ranges, such as Philips RacingVision and OSRAM Night Breaker Laser (Next Generation) produce up to 150% extra brightness in comparison to a standard halogen. This means that you’ll see much more of the road ahead, helping to keep you safe.

Halogen car headlights can also be used to improve the styling of your vehicle. Philips DiamondVision bulbs have a colour temperature of up to 5000K, giving you a crisp white light with a slight blue tint.

How do I install headlight bulbs?

It all depends on the make and model of your car. On the whole, it’s simple to change a car headlight bulb. For a detailed guide and more information, take a look at our blog post.

Types of headlight bulbs

We sell a wide range of headlights here at PowerBulbs. Halogen headlight fittings generally begin with the letter H (for example, H4 and H7). Please check your vehicle handbook or our Bulb Checker to determine which bulb fitting is correct for your vehicle.
